Tom Clynes ‘10 is an author, photographer and screenwriter who covers the adventurous side of science and environmental issues. He travelled just north of the Arctic Circle for this essay. Unconnected by roads to the rest of Canada, most members of Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation still hunt or fish nearly every day. But the Yukon’s rush to develop mineral resources threatens their traditional way of life.
