Labor and Employment Reporter,  Bloomberg Law

The impermanent “future of work”  Judge

Ben Penn is a labor and employment reporter for Bloomberg Law. Previously, he was an associate editor at DecisionHealth, where he reported on Medicare policy, and a reporter at Youth Today, covering the high school dropout crisis and corruption at for-profit colleges. Penn reports on the policies, regulations and laws affecting the workplace, with an emphasis on workers’ pay. His coverage of the U.S. Department of Labor produced the first available measurement of pervasive wage violations in the fast-food industry, among other alarming developments. He co-authors “Punching In,” a weekly column offering commentary on how labor issues play out in the nation’s capital. A member of the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, Penn supports fellow journalists by mentoring young and veteran colleagues in his newsroom. He holds a bachelor of arts in journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.
