Ricardo Balthazar has been working as a journalist for almost 30 years. He started as a reporter in Jundiai, a medium-sized city near São Paulo, and was until recently the political editor at Folha de São Paulo, Brazil’s main daily newspaper. He has covered many topics as a reporter including politics, economics, labor unions, industrial policy and nuclear energy. He was a correspondent for the financial daily Valor Econômico in Washington, DC for almost four years, in which period he covered Barack Obama’s election and the global financial crisis of 2007-2008.
