Maria Byrne is a field producer covering international news for the BBC. She is currently based in Brussels where she covers Brexit as well as breaking news across Europe. She was previously based at BBC bureaus in Beijing and Washington D.C., as well as the BBC
headquarters in London. Byrne has also produced stories on the Middle East, most recently covering the war in Yemen. She is passionate about radio and is currently working on an upcoming BBC podcast, which is set in Ireland. Byrne holds a B.A. in communications studies from Dublin City University and an M.A. in broadcast journalism from Falmouth University in the U.K.
