Seminars and Workshops

Wallace House living room during a private seminar

An environment of engaging discussions and collaborative learning

The Knight-Wallace Fellowship is designed to foster personal and professional growth and challenge journalists to dig deeper, ask probing questions and learn new skills.

Seminars twice a week with media innovators, world-renowned U-M faculty, and experts from many walks of life are held within the congenial atmosphere of Wallace House. These thought-provoking seminars let Fellows dive deep into topics, network with newsroom leaders and ask questions off the record.

Training workshops give Fellows the chance to hone their craft and learn new skills.  From writing workshops to our podcast bootcamp, Fellows are challenged to roll up their sleeves and jump in.

Each year, we develop workshops to address the needs and interests of the current crop of Fellows. We’ve teamed them with the superstars of storytelling, digital innovation and business for specialized sessions in podcasting, audience engagement and leadership training.

Our writing workshop is always a Fellow favorite. Fellows who opt to join the workshop, meet weekly at Wallace House for the course of the fellowship year.
